Responsibility in organizations

• The noun “re-spond” has Latin roots meaning to reply to a question or a demand with a promise. Thus responsibility literally means to strive for reliable “answers” to questions arising.
• Responsibility of an entity like a role means, that the role is obliged to respond to every demand, concerning its defined domain, its assigned tasks and defined scope of responsibility.
• Usually the “answers” or responses are reactions like: work, deliveries, services, support, errands, decisions…
• Thus the „asking and answering“-process is connecting functions, roles, people…
